Local Fitness and Physical Therapy Center Prioritizes Preventative Health
Bad Hersfeld – A local fitness and physical therapy center is placing increased emphasis on preventative healthcare under new leadership. Eileen Malkmus took over as managing director of Medi-Sport-Gym and the affiliated Physio Profil practice earlier this year, succeeding her grandmother, Michaela Schadewald. The transition aims to blend established practices with a renewed focus on wellness and proactive health management. Preventative care is increasingly recognized as a key component of overall health and well-being.

“I am focusing on strengthening the emphasis on health,” Malkmus explained. “I want to help people take more responsibility for their health and make them aware that prevention is better than cure. We take a holistic approach: health prevention, exercise, nutrition, and supplementation.”
Malkmus, a trained physiotherapist, brings over eleven years of experience and specialized training in golf physiotherapy to her new role. She plans to make golf more accessible as a sport, regardless of physical limitations or age. “Anyone can learn to play golf, whether they have a physical limitation, young or old,” she stated, adding that therapy and play could soon take place on regional golf courses.
The expanded offerings at Medi-Sport-Gym and Physio Profil now include physiotherapy, fitness training, rehabilitation programs, and preventative health services. The center recently received recognition from Dr. WOLFF Sports & Prevention GmbH for its long-standing partnership and commitment to preventative health training and specialized rehabilitation. This acknowledgement highlights the high level of care provided by the staff utilizing the “Dr. WOLFF” equipment.

“both physical and mental demands on people are constantly increasing, which means healthcare must keep pace,” Malkmus believes. “Everyone should develop more health awareness for their own body in order to maintain their health and physical performance for as long as possible.” The center offers a variety of programs, including T-Rena courses, the milon circuit, and the FIVE concept. “We want to support people in taking responsibility for their health and at the same time develop a passion for physical activity and healthy eating,” Malkmus concluded. “We too want to establish ourselves in the area of health coaching and establish firm collaborations with the surrounding golf courses.”
With this approach, the center aims to address issues such as obesity, lack of exercise, diabetes, and joint diseases. Interested individuals can learn more about the services offered at the facility. (Daniel Blöthner)
