Few families command global attention quite like Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton of Wales.

And their three children – Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 – have grown up almost entirely in the public eye.

The siblings consistently win praise for their behavior on family outings, leading many to comment on the remarkable upbringing provided by Kate Middleton, who herself experienced a childhood marked by her parents’ strained relationship, and Prince William.

Naturally, raising the future monarch and his siblings is a paramount responsibility for the Prince and Princess of Wales.

A KEY FIGURE IN RAISING THE ROYAL CHILDREN
But another individual has played a significant role in the upbringing of the Wales children: Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, the Spanish-born nanny to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Highly trained in her field, Borrallo has worked alongside Kate and William since 2014, when they were still the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

She has overseen the upbringing of each of the three children, from George’s earliest years to Louis’s more recent milestones.

Now, after 11 years of dedicated service to the family, the world’s most famous nanny is set to be honored by the British Royal Family.

THE FAMOUS NANNY EVEN INSPIRED A BOOK
Many weren’t surprised to see Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo’s name on the honors list. Raising the future king within the confines of a traditionally-minded British Royal Family is no easy feat.

While she maintains a relatively low profile, Maria Teresa is consistently present alongside the Wales family on their engagements. In fact, the nanny was the subject of a chapter in a book published two years ago.

Louise Heren and Susan McMillan’s book, Nanny in a Book, originally published a decade ago and updated since, features a dedicated section on Borrallo and the prestigious school where she trained. The book delves into her approach to raising George, Charlotte, and Louis.

Heren even shared some details about Borrallo’s methods with The Sun, according to reports.

KATE AND WILLIAM DEFER TO HER JUDGMENT
Heren claims that Borrallo has the final say in preparing the children for public appearances and guiding their behavior.

The royal nanny reportedly allows for no disruptions, ensuring the children maintain composure at all times.

Whether disembarking from planes, holding their mother’s hands, or waving to crowds, Borrallo reportedly prevents any tantrums or displays of frustration.

SHE EVEN TEACHES THEM HOW TO WAVE AND SMILE
The three siblings undergo rigorous preparation not just for mealtimes, but for all public engagements.

They already appear well-versed in the protocols of royal life, learning how to address people, smile for the cameras, and wave appropriately from a young age.

Maria Teresa Borrallo was hired by Kate and William in 2014, when George was just eight months old, and has lived with the family ever since, overseeing their care and education. She accompanies them on both domestic and international trips.

BORN IN SPAIN
Born into an affluent Spanish family in Palencia, Borrallo has three brothers. Her engineer father placed a strong emphasis on education.

One of Borrallo’s brothers, Ignacio, is a musician based in Canada, while Luis resides in Spain. Her third brother, Pablo, is an academic also living in Spain.

Remaining single and stating she is “married to her job,” Maria Borrallo is a graduate of Norland College, a renowned institution with over a century of history in training elite nannies in the UK. Graduates receive training in childcare and household management, as well as first aid, self-defense, and advanced driving techniques.
