Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the theft of approximately $80,000 worth of high-quality batik textiles from an exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Jakarta. The incident, which occurred on February 3, 2026, has drawn attention due to the significant financial loss.

Authorities moved quickly to investigate the case, leading to the apprehension of the three suspects.

“That’s right, we made arrests of three suspects on February 12, 2026 and the loss is around Rp 1,3 billion,” said Tanah Abang Police Chief AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo when confirmed on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

The suspects stole high-quality batik fabrics and garments from a booth at the JCC Senayan exhibition. The theft took place at night.

“It was only from one booth, and it happened at night on February 3, 2026,” Prasetyo stated.

1. Nighttime Operation

Dhimas said the perpetrators acted during the night before the exhibition opened. He added that the stolen batik fabrics were still in the possession of the suspects and had not yet been sold.

“The suspects haven’t had a chance to sell any of the stolen items,” he said.

The suspects have been designated as suspects and face charges under Article 477 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft. Police suspect the theft was carefully planned.

“This isn’t the first time these individuals have committed a crime, so they likely knew the situation and what allowed them to carry out the act,” Prasetyo explained.

2. The Arrests

The three suspects have been identified as Ledy Dwanty Naema Koen, Krisantus Nomleni, and Gelbeth Juliana Yunus. The victim reported the theft on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the day after it occurred.

Criminal Unit Head of the Tanah Abang Police, AKP Ikhsan Rangga, said his team immediately went to the location and reviewed CCTV footage after receiving the report. AKP Ikhsan led the arrests of the three suspects on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at different locations.

Police first went to Ledy’s home in Bekasi City and recovered some of the stolen batik. Ledy was apprehended based on information from her husband.

“The suspect, Ledy Dwanty Naema Koen, was not at home. Her husband then provided information about her residence, and with his guidance, we were able to apprehend her,” Ikhsan said.

Ledy then revealed the locations of the other two suspects, Krisantus and Gelbeth, who were located near Ledy’s home. All three suspects were taken to the Tanah Abang Police station.

3. Evidence Seized

In addition to arresting the suspects, police seized stolen batik garments and fabrics. The total value of the stolen goods is approximately Rp 1,3 billion.

“The evidence includes two containers filled with batik garments and fabrics,” Ikhsan said.

Police also seized two large sacks, one suitcase containing batik garments, five plastic bags filled with batik garments and fabrics, three cell phones belonging to the suspects, and a Toyota Cayla vehicle used by the suspects during the crime.

4. Repeat Offenders at JCC

Police say the three suspects had committed thefts previously. They had also stolen items at the JCC in a prior incident.

“This is the second time they’ve done this, including this latest incident, and both times at the JCC. The first time involved fabric, with losses of around Rp 100 million,” said Tanah Abang Police Chief, AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo.

5. Motive for the Theft

Dhimas said the three suspects are friends and from the same region. He revealed that financial hardship was the motive for the theft.

“The motive was financial. They are friends from the same area,” he said.
