Russian authorities have announced the arrest of a key suspect in the attempted murder of General vladimir Алексеев, a high-ranking military official who was shot in Moscow in January. The shooting and subsequent investigation are unfolding against a backdrop of escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with both nations lodging accusations related to the attack. This incident raises concerns about targeted violence and potential state-sponsored operations amid the ongoing conflict, prompting a multinational investigation involving multiple agencies. Russian security services are now working to identify the masterminds behind the assassination attempt.
Russian security services have apprehended a suspect in the attempted murder of General Vladimir Алексеев and identified several individuals believed to be his accomplices, officials announced. The investigation comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with both countries trading accusations over the incident.
The alleged shooter has been identified as L. Korba, a Russian citizen, who was detained in Dubai and subsequently extradited to Russia, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB).
Authorities have also named two other Russian citizens, V. Vasin and Z. Serebritzkaya, as accomplices in the case. Vasin has been taken into custody in Moscow. Serebritzkaya, however, is reported to have fled to Ukraine, officials said.
The FSB stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those who organized the January 6 attack on Алексеев, who was shot three times outside his home on Volokolamskoye Highway in Moscow while on his way to work.
Following the shooting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov blamed Ukraine for the attempt on Алексеев’s life. Kyiv has denied any involvement. The development underscores the complex geopolitical landscape and ongoing accusations between the two nations.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the plot and bring all those responsible to justice.
