Sabrina Carpenter Hosts and Performs on Saturday Night Live

Sabrina Carpenter showcased her musical talents and comedic timing last night as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, performing tracks from her new album, Man’s Best Friend.

During her performance, Carpenter delivered energetic renditions of “Manchild” – playfully singing into a hairbrush while wearing SNL-themed underwear – and “Nobody’s Son,” complete with a karate-inspired gi. She also appeared in a variety of sketches, including roles as a 12-year-old podcast host, a motivational speaker with a mishap, and even a singing washing machine. Carpenter’s appearance comes as she prepares to embark on a North American arena tour this week.

The singer addressed recent attention surrounding the Man’s Best Friend album cover during her opening monologue, joking, “What people don’t realize is that’s just how they cropped it.” She continued, elaborating with a story about Bowen Yang and Martin Short, “If you zoom out it’s clearly a picture from the [Saturday Night Live] 50th anniversary special of Bowen helping me up by the hair after Martin Short shoved me out of the buffet line, saying something like ‘Daddy need his mini quiche.’” Carpenter also playfully acknowledged her public image, stating, “I’m not just horny, I’m also turned on, and sexually charged.” You can find more about her music on her official website.

This marked Carpenter’s third time as musical guest on SNL, and her fourth appearance overall including a cameo earlier this year and a performance at the SNL 50th Anniversary Special alongside Paul Simon. Season 51 of Saturday Night Live premiered earlier this month with Bad Bunny as host and Doja Cat as musical guest. Future episodes are scheduled to feature Miles Teller and Brandi Carlile, Nikki Glaser and Sombr, and Glen Powell and Olivia Dean.

Carpenter’s North American tour kicks off on Thursday in Pittsburgh, with stops planned in cities including New York, Nashville, Toronto, and Los Angeles.
