Consumers in Baden-Württemberg are being urged to check their refrigerators following a recall of sliced salami from Franz Bock GmbH, due to potential contamination with risky bacteria. The recall, announced November 23, 2025, involves packages of “Haussalami geschnitten” and stems from concerns about Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, which can cause severe illness. Consumers are advised not to consume the product and return it to the point of purchase for a refund.

Kassel – Consumers are advised to check their refrigerators following a recall of a sliced sausage product originating from Baden-Württemberg. The pathogens can lead to bloody diarrhea and even kidney failure.

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) is warning against consuming a salami product from manufacturer Franz Bock GmbH. The recall is due to the detection of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC). According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, the bacteria contain a potent cell toxin that can lead to a severe infection with gastrointestinal complaints. These include (bloody) diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which can cause kidney failure. The onset of infection after consuming contaminated food typically takes three to four days.
Sausage Recall: Salami Also Sold at Rewe and Edeka
The salami was sold exclusively in Baden-Württemberg. According to the manufacturer, the product was distributed to Edeka, Rewe, as well as smaller farm shops, village stores, and bakeries in the greater Stuttgart area. Customers who have already purchased the affected product should not consume it. “Please return the product to the point of sale, where you will receive a refund,” the manufacturer stated. A receipt is not required.
Anyone who has already consumed the salami and develops symptoms such as nausea, fever, or diarrhea should seek immediate medical attention. Infants, young children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
Food recalls frequently generate public concern. Most recently, Milka chocolate was recalled due to the risk of internal injuries. Additionally, Aldi initiated a recall of an Asian product with potentially life-threatening consequences.
