Las Vegas – In a move challenging the industry trend of built-in obsolescence, Satechi unveiled its new Slim EX series of wireless keyboards and a mouse at CES 2026, all featuring user-replaceable batteries [[2]]. The Slim EX1 and full-size slim EX3 keyboards offer a rare option for consumers seeking to extend the lifespan of their devices, avoiding the need for complete replacements due to battery degradation. The new product line, available starting today, includes the Slim EX3 keyboard at $69.99 and the Slim EX1 at $49.99 [[1]].

Satechi is challenging the planned obsolescence of tech accessories with the launch of two new wireless keyboards featuring user-replaceable batteries. The Slim EX1 and full-size Slim EX3 offer a rare level of repairability in a market increasingly dominated by sealed, disposable devices.

Finding wireless keyboards – and especially slim models like the Slim EX1 and Slim EX3 – with easily swapped batteries is becoming increasingly difficult. Satechi says users can access the lithium battery by simply removing screws on the back of the device and sliding open a maintenance door. This design choice addresses the common issue of keyboard battery degradation over time, offering a sustainable alternative to replacing the entire unit.

Beyond the battery innovation, both keyboards automatically remap keys for compatibility with Mac or Windows operating systems. They can also connect to up to four devices, including those running Android or iPadOS, streamlining workflows across multiple platforms. This multi-device connectivity is a key feature for users juggling various devices in their daily routines.

Both keyboards feature quiet scissor-switch keycaps and charge via USB-C, offering up to five weeks of battery life. The Slim EX3, which includes a numeric keypad and navigation keys, is priced at $69.99, while the more compact Slim EX1 is available for $49.99. Satechi has also introduced a Slim EX wireless mouse with a replaceable battery, retailing for $29.99. Satechi states that batteries are covered under warranty and replacements are available by contacting the company directly.

The Slim EX keyboards and mouse are available in both black and silver finishes and can be purchased starting today from the Satechi website and Amazon.
