Saudi Arabia‘s General Directorate of Passports has announced a final 30-day window for residents and families to regularize visa statuses and avoid potential penalties, according to a notice issued Wednesday. The initiative impacts thousands of expatriates and their dependents currently in the Kingdom, offering a pathway for extensions and final departures. This reaffirmation of the program comes as Saudi authorities increase enforcement of immigration regulations, emphasizing the importance of completing required procedures within established timeframes.
Thousands of Saudi families and residents in the Kingdom have a final opportunity to regularize the status of their family members and employees without facing potentially hefty financial penalties. The General Directorate of Passports has reaffirmed an exceptional initiative granting a full 30 days to take advantage of a service extending visit visas for final departure.
The deadline comes as the Directorate of Passports increases enforcement of regulations requiring completion of procedures within 30 days to avoid subsequent repercussions. This leaves those eligible with a critical decision: utilize this limited-time offer or risk facing strict penalties.

According to officials, specific conditions must be met to benefit from the electronic extension. The remaining validity of the visa must be seven days or less, or no more than three days have passed since its expiration. Additionally, the visitor must be present within the Kingdom and possess a valid passport and medical insurance.
In a related development, the Directorate of Passports stated that issuing a final exit visa requires a minimum of 30 days of validity remaining on the resident’s identity card. The visa is being issued free of charge through the “Absher,” “Absher Business,” and “Muqeem” platforms for sponsors and heads of families. This move aims to streamline the process for those needing to depart the country.

The announcement reflects a broader effort by Saudi authorities to manage its foreign workforce and ensure compliance with immigration laws.
For residents currently outside the Kingdom, the Directorate of Passports has established a special mechanism for electronic extension through the “Absher” or “Muqeem” platforms for employers, provided the beneficiary remains on the employer’s records and fees are paid via “SADAD.”
