According to a new report from Billboard, Shakira’s tour grossed over $300 million, setting a new high-water mark for Latin female artists and solidifying her position as a global force in live music.
Shakira is capping off a monumental year with a major industry accolade. The Colombian superstar’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour continues to break records as it moves through South America, and now she’s been named the top-performing Latin touring act of 2024, according to a new report from Billboard.
The data reveals that five Latin artists surpassed $100 million in tour revenue this year: Shakira, Luis Miguel, Bad Bunny, Karol G, RBD, and Aventura. Shakira, however, significantly outpaced the competition.
Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran grossed over $300 million, becoming the highest-grossing Latin female tour on record. To date, the tour has generated more than $327 million from over 2.5 million tickets sold in its early stages. This success underscores the continued and growing demand for Latin music on a global scale.
While Billboard notes a slight cooling in the Latin music market overall, Shakira proved to be a standout exception. Having completed 64 concerts as of the report’s closing date, the tour brought in $327.4 million – a figure that puts considerable distance between her and the rest of the field.
For comparison, Rauw Alejandro’s Cosa Nuestra tour sold 562,000 tickets and grossed $91.7 million across 49 dates. Chayanne, a consistent box office draw, moved 781,000 tickets for $87.6 million over 63 concerts. While both tours performed strongly in a challenging year, they fell far short of Shakira’s impressive global numbers.
What began as a relatively modest plan has evolved into an unprecedented musical phenomenon. The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour was initially conceived as a series of arena shows in North America, but quickly expanded.
The success was fueled by the release of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran album via Sony Music Latin, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Top Latin Albums and Top Latin Pop Albums charts, and the viral sensation of the single “Soltera.” Within months, the Barranquilla-born artist saw her name topping charts, dominating social media, and driving ticket sales.
