Venezuelan rapper Carlos Madera, known professionally as Sibilino, has been acquitted of psychological violence allegations made by actress Jeska Lee Ruiz, a case that drew significant public attention and sparked debate over due process and online accusations.Following a warrant for his arrest issued in September 2023, Sibilino maintained his innocence as Ruiz detailed allegations of physical, psychological, and sexual assault dating back to 2021 [[1]]. The recent ruling by a Caracas court underscores the importance of evidence-based legal proceedings, especially in cases amplified by social media scrutiny.
Venezuelan rapper Carlos Madera, known professionally as Sibilino, has been found not guilty of psychological violence against his former partner, actress Jeska Lee Ruiz, by the fourth court of first instance in the Metropolitan Area of Caracas.
According to a statement released, the rapper was acquitted after the court presiding over his case found insufficient evidence to determine his guilt.
“In view of the crime for which he was being tried, this sets a precedent in the public eye, especially emphasizing the responsible use of social media,” explained Sibilino’s lawyer, Maiker González. “Social media does not determine a court’s decision. We must all understand that it is the courts, through a conviction, that determine a person’s responsibility – which in this case was favorable for Carlos Madera (Sibilino).”
González continued, “His innocence has been demonstrated, both before the law and in the face of social media, where he was subjected to public scorn and accusations made without any legal basis. These were merely subjective judgments from social media users that even impacted his work, as he faced professional repercussions due to the ongoing legal process. The court has now made it clear that the artist is innocent, as stated in the sentence published on November 3, 2025.”
Why did Jeska Lee Ruiz report Sibilino?
In September 2023, a court issued an arrest warrant against Carlos Madera, known as Sibilino and a member of the group 3 Dueños, for gender-based violence against actress Jeska Lee Ruiz, who had previously accused him of physical, psychological, and sexual assault in 2021.
The warrant was issued on September 26 by the judge of the Ninth Court of First Instance in Functions of Control, Hearing and Measures of the Judicial Circuit of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas with Jurisdiction in Crimes Against Women.
At the time, in addition to the official order, requests were issued to the Police Information System (Sipol) for the location, search, and apprehension of the accused, as Sibilino was reportedly not in Venezuela.
Jeska Lee Ruiz reported that neither the rapper nor his defense appeared at the preliminary hearings scheduled by the court handling her case.
Following Ruiz’s report to authorities in November 2021, the prosecutor granted her protective measures and security, prohibiting Sibilino and those around him from approaching her or her family.
A month later, Lee Ruiz was allegedly attacked and threatened with death if she did not withdraw her complaint. “I have the right to be respected and protected as a human being, a woman, a mother, and as a person. Preserving my life and the right to justice is my priority. I cannot and should not further consider or protect the reputation or exposure of my aggressor,” she stated in a public letter. The case highlights the ongoing conversations surrounding accountability and safety within the entertainment industry.
