A repatriation flight for Slovakian citizens stranded in the Middle East is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The operation comes as regional instability increases concerns for the safety of those traveling and living abroad.
Bratislava is preparing for the first repatriation flight from the Middle East. The Aviation Unit of the Slovak Republic’s Ministry of Interior is slated to depart for Amman, Jordan, on the morning of March 3, 2026, according to officials.
This is the first confirmed repatriation flight from Jordan. “The Aviation Unit of the Ministry of Interior currently has secured ground services at Amman Airport and has most of the necessary diplomatic permits for overflight and landing,” a ministry statement read. “From countries where the Slovak Republic does not yet have reciprocal permits, approval is currently expected from Serbia and Egypt. The flight will then be ready and secured within hours of the order and request.”
Two Permits Still Pending
Approval from Serbia and Egypt remains the final administrative hurdle. Once received, the flight will be fully authorized.
The Interior Ministry stated that the aircraft is prepared to depart within hours of final confirmation of the order and request, indicating a swift logistical readiness.
Uncertainty Remains in the Middle East
The security situation in the Middle East continues to complicate evacuation efforts. Several airports and airspaces are closed, significantly limiting options for additional repatriation flights.
it is currently impossible to predict when, or if, repatriations from other areas of the Middle East will be possible. The development of the situation will depend on security conditions and the decisions of individual states regarding the opening of airspace.
