The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) have been placed on high alert, level one, in response to escalating conflicts in the Middle East, officials confirmed on March 1, 2026.
The order, issued by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto through Telegram Number TR/283/2026 and signed by Assistant for Operations (Asops) TNI, Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun, comes amid growing concerns about potential domestic repercussions from the international situation.
The directive mandates increased vigilance across several TNI organizations, effective March 1, 2026, and continuing indefinitely. This move underscores the TNI’s commitment to maintaining national security in the face of global instability.
Specifically, commanders of major military operations areas (Pangkotamaops) are to mobilize personnel and military equipment, and conduct patrols at strategic locations and economic centers. These include airports, seaports, railway stations, bus terminals, and power plants.
The National Air Defense Command (Kohanudnas) has been instructed to maintain continuous 24-hour aerial detection and surveillance.
the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) is tasked with gathering information from Indonesian defense attachés in affected countries, developing potential evacuation plans for Indonesian citizens if necessary, and coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian embassies, and relevant authorities as the situation in the Middle East evolves.
In Jakarta, the Jaya/Jayakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya/Jayakarta) will increase patrols around vital infrastructure and foreign embassies to ensure the stability of the capital city.
Military intelligence units are as well directed to proactively monitor strategic locations and embassies for any potential threats and to maintain a secure environment in Jakarta.
