Stanford Soccer: Evans Named National Scholar Player of the Year | Aikey & Kitahata Honored

Stanford women’s soccer concluded a historic season with important individual honors, announced this week by United Soccer Coaches and College Sports Communicators.Senior Elise Evans was named the National Scholar Player of the Year, recognizing her combined athletic and academic achievements [[1]]. STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s soccer is celebrating a trio of All-Americans, led by senior Elise Evans, who has been named the United Soccer Coaches National Scholar Player of the Year. The prestigious award recognizes excellence both on the field and in the classroom, capping off a remarkable season for the Cardinal.

Evans, along with teammate Jasmine Aikey, earned first-team Scholar All-America honors, while Andrea Kitahata secured a spot on the third team. All three players were previously recognized as Scholar All-West Region first team selections.

Evans becomes the third player in Stanford history to receive the National Scholar Player of the Year award, joining Kelley O’Hara (2009) and Teresa Noyola (2011). The communications major also recently earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America first team recognition and was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, college soccer’s highest individual honor.

A key figure in the Cardinal’s defensive success, Evans anchored the back line while contributing significantly to the attack. The team captain led Stanford in minutes played with 2,156 and finished the season with seven goals, including two game-winners, and six assists for a total of 20 points. She delivered a standout performance with a multi-goal game against Alabama in the NCAA Tournament second round on November 21, and provided two assists in a dominant 7-0 victory over San Francisco to open the season. Evans was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, All-ACC first team, and ACC All-Tournament, and helped limit opponents to just 0.96 goals per game. Stanford recorded nine shutouts this year with Evans directing the defense.

Jasmine Aikey was named the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division I, adding to her impressive list of accolades. The midfielder from Palo Alto, Calif., recently helped lead Stanford to a national championship berth and made her third consecutive College Cup appearance. Aikey boasts a 3.97 GPA while pursuing a degree in computer science. She is also a finalist for the 2025 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy and was named the 2025 TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Year, as well as a United Soccer Coaches All-America first team selection and All-ACC First Team. Aikey was also named the ACC Championship All-Tournament MVP. She led the Cardinal in scoring with 53 points, netting 21 goals and adding 11 assists, including seven game-winners. She found the back of the net in 16 of 25 matches, with five multi-goal games.

Rounding out the All-America selections, Andrea Kitahata earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region second team honors, along with All-ACC first team recognition. The Hillsborough, Calif. native consistently made an impact, contributing at least one point in each of the first six matches of the season and totaling 19 points in 25 games. Kitahata strung together two separate streaks of four consecutive matches with a goal and finished with 17 goals and 10 assists for 44 points, adding four game-winners. Her consistent offensive output helped propel the Cardinal throughout the season.
