Incredible! Seixas closes the gap to Pogacar!
Del Toro has been dropped just behind. Will Pogacar wait for Del Toro? Jorgenson is in 4th.
79 km: Pogacar and Pidcock break away…
But Pidcock is having trouble. It appears to be a chain issue. Seixas is catching up to Pogi, bringing Del Toro and Jorgenson with him.
81 km: Three UAE riders and three from Décathlon CMA-CGM at the front!
Pidcock, Grégoire, and Jorgenson are acting as arbiters.
82 km: Christen accelerates
There are now only 7 riders! 3 from UAE, Christen, Del Toro, and Pogacar, with Seixas and Lapeira just behind. Grégoire, Jorgenson, and Jordan Labrosse are also in the mix, as is Pidcock.
82 km: Pidcock rejoins the group!
Grégoire, Alaph’ and Seixas are well-positioned.
83 km: Into the Monte Sante Marie!
UAE has caught up to the breakaway and is now looking to blow the race wide open. Jorgenson has managed to rejoin them. But Pidcock is experiencing a mechanical issue – a terrible time for it to happen.
84 km: “I’m waiting for Del Toro to make the first attack”
Pogacar says he doesn’t care who wins as long as it’s a UAE rider. That’s not something we often hear from him.
85 km: Still getting used to Pogacar with blonde hair
It reminds me so much of Festina in ’98, and that’s not a good sign.
(H) 87 km: Bike change for Jorgenson
The American will have to fight to rejoin the leaders on his own.
(H) 90 km: Seixas is right there
He’s in the wheel of his teammates, not far from Wout van Aert. Everyone is trying to position themselves before the Monte Sante Marie.
(H) 92 km: We have the images!
UAE is leading the peloton and has closed the gap to 14 seconds. An attack in the Monte Sante Marie feels imminent.
(H) 92 km: Again, the broadcaster isn’t showing San Martino in Grania
Not ideal. The peloton appears to have closed to within 40 seconds. The Monte Sante Marie is coming up in 10km.
Switching to the men’s race
There are still 9 riders at the front with a 1’30” lead on the peloton, all on the San Martino in Grania, 98 km from the finish.
Elise Chabbey is an exceptional athlete
She competed in canoeing at the London Olympics, has a degree in medicine, and has had a successful cycling career. Demi Vollering was seen congratulating her, and it looked very sincere.
Longo Borghini shows class
The Italian is understandably disappointed but has kind words for her rivals, both those ahead and those who were dropped earlier due to incidents.
What a finish!
It’s hard to believe, but that final kilometer will go down in history. We’ll uncover the video for you. It’s fantastic what Chabbey did. Her smile is infectious. It looked like she was dropped at the bottom of the Via San Catarina climb, but she fought back to 3rd place. She was 4th before the final turn, managing to maintain her speed and pass everyone. It’s heartbreaking for Niewiadoma, and Longo Borghini is in tears on the ground.
(F) What a finish!!!! Victory for Elise Chabbey!!!!
The Swiss rider capitalized on a turn where the other three riders bumped into each other, but it’s a well-deserved win for the Swiss rider! What a finish! What a spectacle! Thank you, ladies.
(F) The red flame!
Koch led until now, Vallières attacks! Vos cracks!!!!!!! Trinca Colonel too! It’s going to approach down to 6 riders.
(F) 3.3 km: They’re almost at a standstill!
There’s been no pedaling for 500m, everyone is conserving energy. It’s going to be decided in the final climb.
(F) 4.3 km: Trinca Colonel attacks!
This final is completely crazy. And there’s one rider we haven’t seen attack all day, wearing a yellow jersey – Marianne Vos.
(F) 5.5 km: Vos isn’t pedaling
The Dutch rider has fantastic nerves. It’s very strong. It’s rare to spot 7 riders arrive together, and given the winding finish, it’s borderline dangerous.
(F) 6.1 km: And it’s come back from behind!
What a gift for Marianne Vos, the most experienced rider. Chabbey and Vallières are well-placed. Trinca Colonel, who was dropped earlier, is also making a comeback.
(F) 7.5 km: Is it going to close?
There are 13 seconds between the three leaders and the next four. That’s not much, especially since Longo Borghini and Pieterse bumped into each other!
(F) 9 km: Vos and Koch join Chabbey and Vallières
But they risk fighting for 4th place. The podium is ahead, and it could be decided in the famous Via San Caterina.
(F) 10 km: Huge attack from Niewiadoma
The other two are able to follow, but everyone is on the limit. Behind them, Chabbey and Vallières have been relegated to 20 seconds.
(F) 11 km: The checkpoint after the Tolfe
The favorites are Longo-Borghini and Niewiadoma. They’re looking at each other, and Puck Pieterse is managing to rejoin them. Where are the FDJ riders behind?
(F) 12 km: Niewiadoma-Longo Borghini!
They’re sprinting in the middle of the Tolfe, shoulder to shoulder, cutting through the crowd… It’s incredible. What a spectacle.
(F) 13 km: The Tolfe with Chabbey in the lead
What a rider this Swiss athlete is. We don’t know how it will end, but she’s been the race’s biggest animator.
(F) 13 km: And Pidcock has rejoined!
Koch is attacking, Longo Borghini is responding. It’s a thrilling race.
(F) 14 km: The gap is closing
The two leaders risk having less than 10 seconds when they reach the Tolfe.
(F) 15 km: The Tolfe in 3 km!
Meanwhile, Elise Chabbey isn’t taking a turn, and Elisa Longo Borghini is forced to carry the weight of the race. That’s normal, as Chabbey still has Koch in the group behind.
(F) 18 km: What a sublime race!
We’re witnessing a fantastic battle now between the two leaders, Chabbey and Longo Borghini, and what remains of the breakaway group. Chabbey is clinging to Longo Borghini’s wheel, but it’s tough!
(F) 18 km: It’s jumping like popcorn. It’s so hard!
Chabbey and Longo Borghini are exceptional at the front, even as Pieterse is cracking behind.
(F) 19 km: Elisa Longo Borghini forces the pace
She’s attacking at the entrance to the Colle Pinzuto. There’s a 9-second gap to the second group.
(F) 21 km: Attack from Fisher-Black!
Chabbey jumps in her wheel, with Ruegg and Vos. Longo Borghini is coming back at a counter-pace.
(F) 24 km: Wlodarczyk rides for Longo Borghini
Vallière is marking her behind, but the leader appears to be Ruegg for EF.
(F) 25 km: Montechiaro sector
2.5 km, it’s long, but it’s not the hardest. But such crazy things have happened in this race that anything is possible.
(F) 29 km: The victory is being decided up ahead!
The favorites, who were 1 minute behind, are now nearly 3 minutes back after their detour. The race is over for Vollering and co.
(F) 32 km: Completely crazy, the second group took a wrong turn!
They all went straight following a motorbike and were warned 100m later! This race is completely wild.
(H) 150 km: A look at the men’s race
After a quarter of the race, the early breakaway has formed. There are 9 riders with a 1’50” lead on the peloton. A specialist in cyclocross, Tibor Del Grosso, is a standout rider in the group.
(F) 36 km: Recap
There are 14 riders at the front, with a 1-minute lead on the group including Vollering and Kopecky. In the first group, the favorites are Chabbey, Niewiadoma, Puck Pieterse, Marianne Vos, Elisa Longo Borghini, and world champion Magdeleine Vallières.
(F) 39 km: Vollering with Kopecky
They’re behind. What happened? We’re looking for information.
(F) 40 km: We’ve lost Demi Vollering
Where is she? Likely a mechanical issue, while the other favorites accelerate.
(F) 42 km: Terrible, a mechanical problem for Pauline Ferrand Prévôt
In the middle of the Tolfe, she waited a long time for her team car. It’s heartbreaking.
(F) 42 km: Borghesi crashes into the spectators!
This descent of the Tolfe is treacherous.
(F) 44 km: The favorites waited for the dropped riders
the gap to the two escapees has grown to 26 seconds, but they’ve gained manpower to lead the chase.
(F) 46 km: The checkpoint after the Colle Pinzuto
There are now 24 riders in the leading group. The main favorites are there, including 3 Visma-Lease a Bike riders, including PFP. Vollering appears to have only one teammate.
(F) 48 km: Attack from Elise Chabbey?
The Swiss rider is the second-best card for FDJ Suez. This team has so many riders that they might be tempted to attack to make the other teams operate. Because so far, FDJ Suez is doing all the work.
(F) 48 km: Lotte Kopecky flags at the back of the group
That’s a surprise, especially since the SD Worx rider, who dominated women’s cycling just two years ago, is all alone.
(F) 50 km: We’re approaching the Colle Pinzuto, the Pogacar sector!
We just passed the turn where he crashed last year.
(F) 52 km: Elise Chabbey is preparing an attack?
The Swiss rider is the best second card of the FDJ Suez. This team is so numerous that they could be tempted to attack to make the others work. Because for the moment, the FDJ Suez are bringing everyone.
(F) 53 km: Lotte Kopecky is flagging
It’s a surprise, especially since the rider from SD Worx, the team that dominated women’s cycling until two years ago, is all alone.

“I really prepared for this race” PFP is confident
Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt feels good. “I did my best to be ready.” Last year, PFP finished 3rd. She’s aiming higher today.
(F) 74 km: Crash!
We don’t have the images, so People can’t assess the extent of the damage. Apparently, Van der Breggen also had a technical issue in San Martino.
(F) 74 km: The women in San Martino
But still no images… It’s frustrating when the broadcaster prefers to show pre-recorded interviews or highlights instead of the race when it enters a strong moment.
(H) 202 km: It’s time for the fictitious start for the men!
There are 4 km of neutral course to begin.
(F) 82 km: The foot of San Martino in 5 km!
The women’s race will reach a pivotal moment just as the TV broadcast begins!
The Tolfe seen from the inside
It’s the last gravel sector of the course, and the riders will pass it twice in the final. It really breaks the legs.
(F) 96 km: One hour of racing and the peloton is still grouped
The race hasn’t sorted itself out yet. The biggest difficulty of the course, San Martino in Grania, is still about fifteen kilometers away.
(F) 133 km: The race is on for the women!
