‘Stranger Things’ Star Eyes Spider-Man Role

Caleb McLaughlin, best known for his role as Lucas Sinclair in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, has publicly expressed his strong desire to portray Miles Morales in a future Spider-Man film. The actor’s ambition comes as the Stranger Things finale recently garnered significant attention, even with a controversial ending and theatrical release.

McLaughlin, a New York native, revealed his enthusiasm during a promotional Q&A for the sports comedy film Goat, co-starring Aaron Pierre and Gabrielle Union. “I would love to play Miles,” he said, according to Variety. “I think Miles represents something bigger than myself; it represents something bigger than most people.”

The actor further explained the personal connection he feels to the character, stating, “Similarly, being from New York, and then just seeing the ‘Spider-Verse’ story, I just feel it’s really, really connected and I feel like a lot of people understand what that means.” This sentiment echoes previous comments where he described the role as a “dream role” when prompted by former Stranger Things co-stars, CBR reports.

McLaughlin’s pursuit of the role has gained momentum with growing fan support, and he isn’t the only contender for the part. He acknowledged this competition, but remains focused on his ambition. The actor has even been sharing videos of his gymnastics training on social media, fueling speculation about his preparation for the physically demanding role, as noted by Screen Rant.

Shameik Moore currently voices Miles Morales in the animated “Spider-Verse” franchise, with a third and final installment slated for release in June 2027. Hailee Steinfeld plays Gwen Stacy in the series. The potential casting of McLaughlin adds another layer of anticipation to the future of the Spider-Verse on the big screen, and highlights the continued cultural impact of superhero films.

McLaughlin’s comments came on February 7, 2026, following speculation about his potential casting that reached a peak after he posted his training videos. He reiterated his interest on February 8, 2026, during the interview published by CBR.
