Stray Cats Cancel Michigan Concert Due to Brian Setzer Illness
Rock and roll trio Stray Cats were forced to cancel their opening tour performance yesterday, October 27, 2025, at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, after singer and guitarist Brian Setzer became ill.
“I’m heartbroken to share, due to serious illness, I am unable to perform and very regrettably have to cancel tonight’s show at Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan,” Setzer stated in a social media post. “I know this affects so many people and I am devastated to have to deliver this news. I’ve been trying to do everything I can to go on and do this show, but it is just not possible. I’ve been looking forward so much to being on stage with my bandmates again and playing for all of our amazing fans, and I’m gutted.”
This cancellation comes after Setzer revealed earlier this year he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that initially impacted his ability to play guitar; he had been making progress in his recovery. The Stray Cats, formed in Massapequa, New York in 1979 and known for hits like “Rock This Town” and “Stray Cat Strut,” have a dedicated fanbase who are now hoping for a swift recovery for Setzer. Fans have taken to social media to express their support, with messages like “Hang in there, Brian” and “We wait…we love you!” circulating widely. For more on autoimmune diseases, resources are available at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases.
Refunds for the cancelled Michigan show will be issued at the point of purchase, and the band currently intends to proceed with the remaining dates on their tour. You can find their full tour schedule on their official website.
Officials have not yet released further details regarding Setzer’s condition, but stated they will provide updates as they become available.
