Frida Rosell suffered a torn ACL in a freak accident involving floor advertising.
The Swedish handball player is now facing a year on the sidelines.
“Incredibly unfair way to obtain injured,” the 26-year-aged wrote.
The Swedish national team has been hit with a string of serious injuries, as Thea Kylberg and Linn Blohm both suffered ACL tears in recent weeks, sidelining them for extended periods.
Rosell’s injury occurred during a league match for her club, Høj, against Esbjerg on February 1st. She sustained the injury while stepping back after an attack, catching her foot on the advertising boards around the court.
“Always Disliked Floor Advertising”
“HOW did I manage to tear my ACL by tripping on the floor advertising?? Always disliked floor advertising on the court, and always will… Incredibly unfair way to get injured. I’ve torn my ACL in my right knee and will undergo surgery soon,” Rosell posted on Instagram.
Originally from Stockholm, Rosell won two Swedish championships during her two seasons with IK Sävehof before turning professional in 2023. She was named the league’s best left back during her final season with Sävehof.
