The planned India-Pakistan clash, scheduled for February 15th in Colombo, is now in jeopardy. The dispute originated when Bangladesh refused to travel to India for the tournament, citing security concerns. Bangladesh had requested the ICC relocate their matches to Sri Lanka, which is co-hosting the tournament, but that request was denied, and Scotland was selected as a replacement team.
Reports indicate the Bangladesh board head’s arrival is aimed at discussing the issues that arose during the World Cup and finding a path forward. Discussions between the Pakistan and Bangladesh cricket boards will precede further talks with the ICC. The PCB is reportedly attempting to mediate a deal that includes Bangladesh, even if Pakistan does not participate in the match.
