Riot Games has terminated its partnership with esports organization Talon Esports, citing performance issues and financial concerns. The Hong Kong-based team, a key participant in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), failed to meet the standards expected of partner organizations, leading to its removal from the VCT Pacific league. The decision underscores the rigorous requirements for participation in Riot’s premier esports circuit, which is rapidly gaining traction as a major force in competitive gaming.

According to a statement released by Riot Games, Talon Esports demonstrated “failure to operate and manage its team in accordance with league standards, including significant and repeated delays in player payments and an inability to demonstrate sufficient financial capacity to continue participation in VCT.”

The situation escalated after a month-long effort by Riot to help Talon Esports resolve its internal issues. Despite these efforts, the organization “ultimately could not meet the standards required to continue as a partner in VCT,” Riot stated.

Players from Talon Esports are now free to explore opportunities with other teams within the VCT ecosystem. Riot Games has initiated a process to identify a replacement team for the vacated slot and expects to provide updates once a selection has been made.
