Drama is already brewing ahead of the 2025 Teletón, with a prominent Chilean television personality reportedly stepping down from hosting duties. Entertainment journalist Cecilia Gutiérrez revealed the news, hinting at behind-the-scenes tension surrounding the annual charity event.
“No hay Teletón sin polémica,” Gutiérrez shared on her Instagram stories, a phrase translating to “There’s no Teletón without controversy.” The Teletón is a major cultural event in Chile, known for its ambitious fundraising efforts and star-studded broadcast.
She continued, “ya hay una animadora que se cabreó y se bajó del evento,” meaning “there’s already a host who got angry and dropped out of the event.” Gutiérrez plans to disclose further details on this Sunday’s episode of Primer Plano, a Chilean entertainment program on CHV.
Gutiérrez revealed the host reportedly told organizers, “no, yo no estoy dispuesta a hacer tal cosa o yo no quiero, porque me tienen chata con ese tema,” which translates to “no, I’m not willing to do such a thing or I don’t want to, because they’ve been bothering me with that issue,” before deciding to withdraw from the event.
The identity of the departing host remains a mystery for now, as Gutiérrez is holding back the name. This news comes as organizers prepare for the “27 hours of love” broadcast, and haven’t yet announced which personalities from each network will be taking on hosting duties.
The 2025 Teletón is scheduled to take place on November 28 and 29. The annual event consistently draws significant viewership and donations, making the selection of hosts a crucial element of its success.
