Thailand’s Department of Disease Control is enhancing its disease surveillance systems and bolstering public health preparedness, according to recent announcements.
On February 6, 2026, the Epidemiology Bureau within the Department of Disease Control held a meeting of its working group to develop a system for reporting vaccine data through the Digital Disease Surveillance (DDS) system. This initiative aims to improve the tracking and analysis of vaccination coverage across the country.
The Epidemiology Bureau also participated in a February 13, 2026, meeting to discuss progress in epidemiological forecasting research. On the same day, the Bureau collaborated with The UK Health Security Agency to conduct a workshop focused on developing skills in After Action Review, a process for evaluating and improving responses to public health events.
These efforts reflect a commitment to strengthening Thailand’s capacity to monitor, investigate, and control diseases at the national level. The Epidemiology Bureau, which maintains a national disease surveillance system, also hosted a workshop on February 13, 2026, to prepare teams for disease investigation and control operations (JIT).
A recent issue of the Weekly Epidemiological Surveillance Report (WESR), Volume 57, Issue 1 (2026), covering January 2026, has also been released, offering insights into current disease trends. The ongoing development of these surveillance and response capabilities is crucial for protecting public health and responding effectively to emerging health threats.
