SV Todesfelde successfully defended their title at the Kiel Hallenmasters indoor soccer tournament. The small-town club defeated Oberliga rivals Holstein Kiel II 3-1 in the final of the sold-out event, which drew 8,650 spectators. KSV won the women’s tournament.
The celebrations began before the final whistle blew late Saturday evening, as coach Björn Sörensen and his assistant Dirk Hellmann embraced on the bench. When the match against the “little storks” ended and the club’s third title – following victories in 2020 and 2025 – was secured, the indoor arena transformed into a blue and yellow party zone.
Those are the club colors of SVT, affectionately known as “Tofe” by its supporters. And the fans showed up in force: a remarkable 1,500 supporters traveled to Kiel to cheer on their team, exceeding the village’s population of just under 1,100.
SVT Forward Liebert: “We Won Everything With Passion”
“It’s always amazing, it’s an incredible event,” attacker Morten Liebert told NDR. The 33-year-old has been with the club since 2014 and celebrated his third Hallenmasters title. “We fought for it and won everything with passion. And in the end, I think we deserved to win,” the striker analyzed.
He didn’t find the back of the net in the final against Kiel’s reserves, however. Former professionals Mirko Boland and Janek Sternberg, along with Benny Soares, scored for SVT, while Laurynas Kulikas scored for KSV. The second team of the second-division club sold themselves well in front of a home crowd and were one of the tournament’s surprises.
Regional League Teams Fall in Group Stage
Other teams were disappointing. Regional league teams Phönix and VfB Lübeck, as well as Weiche Flensburg, failed to reach the semi-finals. The semi-finals featured two Oberliga duels: Kiel defeated VfR Neumünster 4-2 and Todesfelde beat SV Eichede 3-2.
That led to the final, where “Tofe” quickly took a 2-0 lead and ultimately held on despite a goal from their opponents. “We didn’t even think we’d repeat this,” said goalkeeper Fabian Landvoigt. A lively celebration was reportedly underway for the surprise winners.
Holstein Women Win Nordcup
While some Todesfelde players may have been nursing a headache Sunday after the victory celebrations, the women’s Nordcup tournament was taking place in the Ostseehalle. And this time, the title went to Holstein. The KSV players defeated city rivals Kieler MTV 5-3 on penalties in the final. After regulation time, which lasted twelve minutes, the score was 2-2.
It was a bitter defeat for KMTV: the Oberliga team had taken a 2-0 lead against the higher-division Holstein Women. Alia Redant equalized for the favorites just seconds before the final whistle. In the penalty shootout, only Lina Uck was successful for KMTV, while three KSV players scored.
