Escalating tensions with Iran have prompted a strong warning from former President Donald Trump, who threatened military action via his social media platform, Truth Social. The rhetoric follows stalled negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program and comes as the U.S. Navy deploys the USS Abraham Lincoln strike group to the region-a move signaling a significant shift in posture. Both Washington and Tehran now appear to be bracing for potential conflict, with Iranian officials indicating thay believe war is increasingly probable.
The United States has issued its most direct threat yet of military action against Iran if the country does not immediately resume negotiations aimed at curbing its nuclear program. The escalating rhetoric comes as regional tensions remain high and international efforts to revive a landmark nuclear deal remain stalled.
“A massive Armada is heading to Iran. It is moving very quickly, with tremendous power, enthusiasm, and determination. It’s a far larger fleet, headed by the great aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, than was sent to Venezuela. Like in Venezuela, it is ready, willing and able to quickly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary,” former President Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

This latest warning differs from previous statements made by Trump regarding citizen protests in Iran, where he commented on reports of a violent crackdown by the Iranian regime.
The former president clarified that his conditions center on Iran’s nuclear program, which the U.S. and Israel allege is aimed at developing nuclear weapons. “I hope Iran quickly ‘sits down to the table’ and negotiates a fair and equitable deal – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS – one that is good for all parties,” Trump stated.
Trump urged Iranian authorities to negotiate immediately, referencing a June airstrike targeting facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear program. “Time is running out, it really is essential! As I said before to Iran, MAKE A DEAL! They didn’t, and Operation Midnight Hammer, a major destruction of Iran, took place. The next attack will be much worse! Don’t let it happen again,” he wrote.
The U.S. Central Command (Centcom) announced on Monday the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, and its accompanying strike group to the Middle East. The move signals a heightened U.S. military presence in the region.
Iran Believes War is More Likely Than Negotiation
On Wednesday, the Iranian government indicated that armed conflict is now considered more probable than negotiations with the United States. “We consider war more likely than negotiation. We are preparing for the worst-case scenario. The priority is to defend the country,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Ghariabadi told foreign journalists in Tehran, according to reports from Efe.
Ghariabadi affirmed that Iran is prepared to deliver a “strong response to any aggression.” “In the event of a limited attack by the United States, our response will be appropriate,” he added.
Iran has previously warned that it would retaliate for any attack by targeting U.S. bases in the region and Israel, as well as any location from which aircraft involved in an operation might launch.
The deputy minister stated that if Washington seeks “a negotiation whose outcome is not predetermined, the option can be considered,” but that they will not be coerced into negotiations through military means. “If we enter into negotiations, it will be with authority and a firm stance,” he added.
