The United States is preparing to deploy a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, President Donald Trump announced on February 13, 2026, signaling a heightened readiness in the event that nuclear negotiations with Iran collapse. The U.S. Military is set to deploy the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group to the Middle East, joining the Abraham Lincoln, which is already stationed in the Persian Gulf. This will bring the total number of carrier strike groups in the region to two.

Turning to the situation in Ukraine, President Trump commented on the ongoing ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. “Russia wants to make a deal,” he said. “Zelenskyy has to move. Otherwise, he’s going to miss a great opportunity.”
