Two Wounded in Motorcycle Shooting in Barranquilla’s La Playa District
A shooting in the La Playa district of Barranquilla left two men injured on Saturday, May 2, 2026, after gunmen opened fire on a group of people gathered in public.
The attack occurred at the intersection of Street 8 and Carrera 10. According to preliminary reports, assailants on a motorcycle targeted a group of individuals socializing on the street, firing multiple shots before fleeing the scene. This incident underscores the persistent security challenges in the city’s outlying districts, where targeted attacks by motorcycle-borne gunmen remain a recurring threat.
Authorities identified the victims as 40-year-old Numa Javier Calderón De la Hoz and 42-year-old Yercin Enrique Briggles De la Hoz. Both men were transported to ClÃnica Portoazul for medical treatment following the shooting attack in the corregimiento of La Playa.
Police officers cordoned off the area immediately after the event to secure the scene and collect evidence. An official investigation is now underway to determine the motive behind the shooting and to identify the perpetrators.
