Following months of intense fighting, Ukrainian and U.S. negotiators are reportedly making headway on a revised peace framework aimed at ending the conflict with Russia [[1]], [[2]]. The updated 20-point plan, secured after recent talks in Miami, focuses on key areas like security guarantees and economic reconstruction for Ukraine [[3]]. While details are emerging, the success of these efforts hinges on a response from Moscow, which as of today, remains silent on the new proposal.

Ukrainian officials have reported significant progress in discussions aimed at achieving a lasting peace, including key details regarding security guarantees and economic recovery. The development comes as international efforts to mediate an end to the conflict continue, with the United States recently submitting a new peace proposal to Moscow.

According to a statement released by the Ukrainian President’s press service, “Puses pārrunāja dažas būtiskas darba detaļas; ir labas idejas, kam var būt ietekme uz kopīgo iznākumu un ilgtspējīgu mieru. Ir panākts ievērojams progress darbā pie dokumentiem, tostarp jautājumā par drošības garantijām un ekonomikas uzplaukumu.”

The talks involved key members of Ukraine’s national security apparatus, including Rustems Umerovs, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatovs, and Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, along with other members of the negotiating delegation. The presence of high-ranking officials underscores the seriousness with which Ukraine is approaching these discussions.

Umerovs is scheduled to continue discussions with representatives from the United States, specifically with Vitkof and Kushner, on Thursday. This follow-up meeting suggests ongoing engagement from the U.S. side in the peace process.

While Washington has presented its latest peace plan to Moscow, the Kremlin has yet to issue a response. The lack of immediate reaction from Russia introduces an element of uncertainty into the diplomatic efforts.
