Kyiv, Ukraine — The United States has set a June deadline for Ukraine and Russia to reach a peace agreement, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The announcement comes as Russia continues to intensify its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, impacting nuclear power output.
Zelenskyy told reporters on Friday, with the comments embargoed until Saturday morning, that the Trump administration would likely increase pressure on both sides to finalize a deal if the June timeline is not met. “The Americans are proposing the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer and will probably put pressure on the parties precisely according to this schedule,” Zelenskyy said. “And they say that they desire to do everything by June.
