United Airlines Expands European Network with Four New Routes from Newark

United Airlines announced yesterday it will launch service to four new European destinations – Split, Croatia; Glasgow, Scotland; Bari, Italy; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain – beginning next spring, significantly expanding travel options for passengers on the U.S. East Coast.

Flights to Split, Croatia will begin April 30 with three weekly departures, making United the only airline offering nonstop service between the U.S. and the Croatian city. Service to Bari, Italy will operate four times per week starting May 1, also as the sole nonstop carrier. Daily service to Glasgow, Scotland commences May 8, and thrice-weekly seasonal flights to Santiago de Compostela, Spain will begin May 27. The airline will utilize Boeing 767-300ER aircraft for the Split and Bari routes, and Boeing 737 Max 8 planes for Glasgow and Santiago de Compostela.

In addition to the European expansion, United confirmed it will continue service to nine international destinations added this year, including Dakar, Senegal and Faro, Portugal. The airline also unveiled two new routes for 2025: daily service between Newark and Seoul, South Korea, beginning September 4, and daily flights between Washington Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, starting May 21 – competing with Icelandair on the latter route.
