Werder Bremen Manager Search: Bo Svensson Emerges as Top Candidate

Discussions with Bo Svensson include whether he will bring his current assistant coaches with him to Bremen. He has been working closely with Babak Keyhanfar, Kristoffer Wichmann, and Tijan Njie. He would reportedly like to continue that partnership at SV Werder Bremen, though Raphael Duarte and Christian Groß are currently in place as interim coaches.

Bo Henriksen also remains a name in the conversation for the vacant head coach position at Werder Bremen. The 50-year-old Dane, who was relieved of his duties at Mainz 05 in December, has already been contacted. Werder has also reached out to Mainz regarding Henriksen, who is still under contract there until 2027. However, a potential obstacle has emerged: Reports suggest that Mainz is hesitant to allow their former coach to join a direct relegation rival.

SV Werder Bremen aims to appoint a new head coach as quickly as possible, with the hope that he can be on the bench for the upcoming away match against SC Freiburg (Saturday, 3:30 PM/DeichStube-Liveticker). Currently, all signs point to Bo Svensson as the likely choice. (dco)
