A woman is fighting for her life after a collision with a Montreal transit bus Saturday evening. The incident occurred in the Montréal-Nord borough, prompting an investigation by city police.

According to the Service de police la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the crash took place at the intersection of Henri-Bourassa Boulevard and Salk Avenue around 5:50 p.m. On March 7, 2026. The bus was stopped at a bus stop when a sport utility vehicle struck its rear end, police said.

The female passenger in the SUV, a woman in her 40s, was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. The 57-year-old bus driver and any passengers on board were unharmed, authorities confirmed.

“Des vérifications seront faites au niveau des possibles caméras de surveillance situées à proximité des lieux. Des témoins de l’événement ont été rencontrés par les policiers,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils, indicating investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the cause of the accident.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and a security perimeter was established at the scene. This incident underscores the potential dangers at intersections, even when buses are stationary.
