R-Chord Launches Cross-Border Legal Battle Over ‘Enough Love’ Copyright Infringement

The legal action specifically targets artists Chen Dexiu, Wang Dongcheng, and Zeng Peici. According to a formal statement released by Macao Music on April 28, 2026, the three performers are accused of “forcible infringement” for using the lyrics of “Enough Love” during multiple concerts held between 2023 and 2025 without obtaining the necessary permissions from the songwriter, R-chord.

The dispute centers on a clear cutoff in licensing. Macao Music emphasized that the agency had formally terminated the global authorization for the lyrics of “Enough Love” in late October 2021, meaning no further use of the lyrics was permitted after that date. The agency’s statement was particularly critical of Chen Dexiu, accusing him of “repeatedly confusing the chronological order” of the authorization timeline.

The conflict has sparked a wider conversation about copyright in the industry, with R-chord drawing inspiration from other high-profile disputes. On April 30, 2026, the singer took to social media to express his gratitude toward fellow artist Li Ronghao, who recently faced his own copyright battle after the song “Li Bai” was performed without authorization. “I really want to thank Li Ronghao’s help, letting everyone realize the importance of copyright,” R-chord wrote.

R-chord also addressed the financial aspects of the lawsuit with his signature boldness. He revealed that his legal team in China is confident in the case and noted that he can pursue the litigation without needing to physically enter the country. Asserting his financial independence, he stated that his current workload in Taiwan is “enough for me to support a family of four” and allows him to travel to legal countries for relaxation. “I don’t need to kneel and lick; it’s just great to be content and not lack money!” he added.

Beyond the formal lawsuits, R-chord has expressed frustration with other artists who have attempted to bypass copyright restrictions through “evasive” performance styles. He specifically called out Chen Nairong, who reportedly played only the melody of the song while letting the audience sing the lyrics, and Huang Shaogu, who substituted the lyrics with numbers. R-chord dismissed these tactics as mere attempts to “find loopholes” in the law.

The song “Enough Love,” featuring lyrics by R-chord and music by Chen Dexiu, originally rose to fame through the series The X.O.X (終極三國), remaining a nostalgic staple for many fans. This latest legal move highlights the artist’s commitment to protecting his creative operate, even as it creates friction with former collaborators and peers.
