A recent complaint from the singer backfired, at least judging by the public response, which has clearly sided with Hadid.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s daughter, Khai, celebrated her fifth birthday in September. Since their split in 2021, the world-famous parents have been co-parenting their daughter under a joint custody arrangement.

Co-parenting was among the topics discussed in Zayn’s recent interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where the former One Direction member revealed he got into a disagreement with his ex after discovering how much she’d received from the Tooth Fairy after Khai lost her first tooth.

500 dollars. My mother gave him a right telling off for it…

– the singer began, but even podcast host Alex Cooper was taken aback upon hearing the amount – roughly $160,000 Hungarian Forint.

“It’s her first tooth, and I’m gonna milk it, so I might as well give my daughter whatever I want to give her,” Zayn explained, adding that Khai is his first child and that she’ll only secure five dollars for her second tooth – and if she complains, he’ll tell her the Tooth Fairy went bankrupt.

The internet wasn’t particularly impressed with the story, with many believing the top model was right to be upset. The exchange highlights the ongoing public interest in celebrity parenting and co-parenting dynamics.

“This shows Gigi is a great mom!”

“You’ll see so many better ways to spoil a kid! $500 for a child who doesn’t even understand its value…”

“Solid on Gigi for dumping this big baby.”

“It’s like a child raising another child.”

“Giving $500 to a preschooler is insane. By the time all her baby teeth fall out, she’ll be expecting a house and a yacht.”

“Gigi is 100 percent right, this is ridiculous” – the comments poured in, with some suggesting Malik should refrain from giving interviews in the future.
