The Uni-Lions announced their 60-man protected roster today, filling all available spots in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). Alongside the protected players, the team designated 12 players as free agents or released them, resulting in eight players being removed from the 40-man roster. This includes four players – Hu Jin-long, who retired at the end of the season and exercised his rights as a free agent and overseas free agent.

The Uni-Lions’ 60-man roster breaks down to 31 pitchers, six catchers, 15 infielders, and eight outfielders. In addition to Lin Yi-quan, Ruan Yu-zhi, Li Jia-xiang, and Yang Jun-xiang, who were previously released, Lin Yuan-yu, Zhang Sheng-hao, Yin Po-huai, and Yang Meng-yuan have also been cut.

Lin Dai-an and Su Zhi-jie have exercised their free agent rights, while Lin An-ko has signed with the Seibu Lions of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball League using his overseas free agent eligibility. Hu Jin-long announced his retirement at the end of the season and will transition to a role as a first-team assistant hitting coach next year. Lin Dai-an and Su Zhi-jie both have the potential to return to the team.

Lin Yuan-yu’s situation is particularly noteworthy. After being assigned to Taiwan Marine during the offseason, he made four relief appearances, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing one run for a 2.45 ERA. He even pitched a scoreless inning against Taiwan Sanglin today.
