A series of shocking images of Diego Maradona lying lifeless in his bed, with a visibly distended abdomen, have shaken the ongoing trial of his medical team accused of negligence. Maradona, widely considered one of the greatest football players in history, passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60 although recovering at home following brain blood clot surgery. The cause of death was determined to be heart failure and acute respiratory distress, occurring approximately two weeks after the surgery. During Thursday’s session, emergency physician Juan Carlos Pinto testified regarding the state he found the football icon in upon arriving at Maradona’s home in an ambulance.
