Almería Celebrates Record-Breaking 42nd Golden Age Theatre Festival
Almería recently transformed into a vibrant epicenter of classical art and drama for the 42nd Golden Age Theatre Festival, a weekend defined by a powerful fusion of theater, music, and stage emotion. This year’s edition was hailed as a milestone, returning to its full splendor with historic levels of participation.

The festival’s success is partly attributed to a long-term commitment to artistic development. The University of Almería (UAL) has been instrumental in this growth, with its academic cycle sowing the seeds for the future of the Golden Age Theatre Festival, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent and scholarship to sustain the tradition.
The festivities reached a triumphant conclusion with a grand musical finale. The Orquesta de Cámara de Almería (OCAL) delivered a resounding success with their “Imperio Barroco” concert. This performance served as the perfect closing note for the event, blending the grandeur of the Baroque era with the theatrical spirit of the weekend.
By combining academic rigor with high-profile public performances, the XLII Jornadas de Teatro del Siglo de Oro has reinforced its position as a cornerstone of regional culture, proving that the allure of the Golden Age continues to captivate modern audiences.
