Chilean television personality Raquel Argandoña is facing backlash after making a critical comment about contestant Cata Days’ appearance on the show Fiebre de Baile, sparking multiple complaints filed with the National Television Council (CNTV).
Argandoña, a judge on the program, questioned Days on-air about removing part of her outfit and suggested an adjustment “so the roll doesn’t show, because that doesn’t look aesthetic on television.” The incident has ignited a debate about body image and acceptable commentary on reality television.
Constanza Capelli, who witnessed the exchange firsthand, addressed the controversy upon arriving at the Copihue de Oro 2025 awards.
“It was very strong. At the moment, I don’t even think Cata fully processed it. Later, she realized what had happened and said, ‘What just happened to me? How can someone speak to me like that?’” Capelli told a local publication.
Capelli Calls for Modernization
Capelli urged Argandoña to “update her perspective.”
“It was a very retrograde way of speaking, one that belongs to an old style of television that simply doesn’t work today,” she said. “Although I must say that I don’t think Raquel or the judge had bad intentions, I simply think that everyone needs to update themselves, and that’s the responsibility of everyone who works in communications.”
She added, “Television isn’t what it used to be, and people don’t want to consume that kind of television.”
Capelli also revealed that Days was initially upset, but “the next day she felt empowered, she felt the support of the people. She was very confident and strong.” The incident underscores the increasing scrutiny of on-air commentary and its impact on contestants in the competitive world of reality television.
