Salsa legend Willie González surprised residents of Caracas when he hopped aboard a local public transit van to connect with fans who have enjoyed his music for years.
The lively atmosphere followed a weekend celebration at the Hipódromo de La Rinconada after the close of the 2025 horse racing season, where international artists came together to entertain attendees.
Among them was Willie González, the voice behind hits like “Hazme Olvidarla,” “Seda,” “Pequeñas Cosas” and “No podrás escapar de mí,” who brought his talent and a dose of vibrant salsa to the event.
Willie González Rides Along in Caracas
For decades, Venezuela has been known for its love of salsa music, and it’s common to hear those classic tunes playing while riding in a public transit van.
What began as an ordinary commute for many quickly turned into a moment of joy when they encountered their idol. Willie González had committed to visiting Petare and experiencing a ride in a van alongside the people of Caracas, who immediately recognized him.
He greeted passengers with enthusiasm and took the opportunity to share a moment with them along the route.
“Thank you all, my music is always playing on this form of transportation. Venezuela never ceases to amaze me, every corner of this country has a story to tell and a melody to accompany it. Keep dancing to the rhythm of our music!” he shared on his Instagram account, where he posted a series of photos from the experience.
