A busy night of NHL action on Wednesday saw pivotal performances from several Slovak players, while also highlighting ongoing struggles for teams near the bottom of the league standings. San Jose secured a key win thanks to a decisive goal from Pavol Regenda, while notable contributions also came from Dalibor Dvorský, Martin Fehérváry, and Šimon Nemec across other matchups. These results contribute to the shifting landscape as teams approach the trade deadline and jockey for playoff positioning.

San Jose Sharks forward Pavol Regenda scored a crucial goal, helping his team defeat the New York Rangers 3-1 in Wednesday night’s NHL action.

Fellow Slovak Dalibor Dvorský of the St. Louis Blues also found the back of the net during a power play, but his team fell to the Dallas Stars 3-2 on the road.

Washington Capitals defenseman Martin Fehérváry contributed with two assists in his team’s 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, while New Jersey Devils defenseman Šimon Nemec added an assist in a thrilling 5-4 win against the Vancouver Canucks.

The goal put San Jose ahead 2-0, and ultimately proved to be the game-winner as the Rangers could only manage a single response from Sam Carrick, making the final score 3-1. The Sharks maintained their lead from the 13th minute onward.

Regenda skated on the second line for San Jose, logging nearly 19 minutes of ice time and adding three shots and two hits to his stat line.

Through 13 games this season, Regenda has eight goals and one assist. The Rangers have now lost three straight, eight of their last nine, and remain at the bottom of the NHL standings.

Recent reports suggest the Rangers are exploring trade options before the deadline, and the Sharks have been mentioned as a potential partner.

San Jose currently holds the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, two points ahead of both Seattle and Los Angeles.

Dvorský Lights the Lamp for the Eighth Time

Dvorský tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal at the 12-minute mark, finishing a quick passing play with a one-timer that Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger couldn’t stop.

It was Dvorský’s eighth goal of the season, and his fifth on the power play. He played 13:21, registering one shot, one hit, and a 38% faceoff percentage (6-for-16), finishing with a minus rating.

After 41 games, Dvorský has 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists). Jason Robertson scored the game-winning goal for Dallas late in the third period, securing a 3-2 victory. The Blues have now lost three consecutive games and six of their last eight.

Fehérváry Drives Washington to Victory

Fehérváry was Washington’s most productive player in their 3-1 win over Calgary, becoming the only player on either team to record two points. This marked his third multi-point game in January and his fourth of the season. Through 52 games, Fehérváry has three goals, 16 assists, and a plus-15 rating.

The defenseman played just under 19 minutes, adding two shots, one hit, and one takeaway to his performance.

Calgary’s Martin Pospíšil did not register a point in his second game of the season.

He played over 13 minutes, firing four shots and delivering three hits. The Capitals snapped a four-game losing streak, while the Flames have now lost three in a row.

New Jersey’s Šimon Nemec assisted on the opening goal, setting up Finnish rookie Hämeenaho for his first career NHL goal. The Devils took an early 1-0 lead and ultimately prevailed 5-4.
