The entertainment industry is seeing a growing trend of artists diversifying their careers and several Taiwanese celebrities have recently ventured into novel fields. From real estate to engineering, here’s a look at what some familiar faces are up to.

Actor Zhang Jie, who married actress Xia Ru Zhi in 2020 and has a daughter, recently obtained his real estate license and announced his new career path on social media. He shared a photo of his business card, expressing his enthusiasm for the industry: “I’ve officially become a real estate agent. I hope to contribute my efforts to everyone, whether you’re buying, selling, or renting a property, and I’m happy to help you every step of the way!” This move reflects a broader trend of entertainers seeking alternative income streams and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Huang Shao Gu, formerly the lead singer and guitarist of the band Strong Objection, married Yumi Lin in 2020 and has two sons. He has transitioned into acting in recent years, and to support his family, also worked as a taxi driver. He recently announced that he has also obtained his real estate license, officially joining the real estate profession.

He told ETtoday, “Given that the Taiwanese entertainment industry is relatively unstable, I also want to take on more challenges whereas I’m young. I don’t want to wait until I’m 40 or 50 to experience a midlife crisis. While I still have the energy and ability, I’ll quickly seek out new opportunities, and I haven’t given up on the entertainment industry.”
