The entertainment industry is seeing a growing trend of artists diversifying their careers and several Taiwanese celebrities have recently ventured into novel fields. From real estate to engineering, here’s a look at what some familiar faces are up to.

Actor Zhang Jie, who married actress Xia Ru Zhi in 2020 and has a daughter, recently obtained his real estate license and announced his new career path on social media. He shared a photo of his business card, expressing his enthusiasm for the industry: “I’ve officially become a real estate agent. I hope to contribute my efforts to everyone, whether you’re buying, selling, or renting a property, and I’m happy to help you every step of the way!” This move reflects a broader trend of entertainers seeking alternative income streams and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Huang Shao Gu, formerly the lead singer and guitarist of the band Strong Objection, married Yumi Lin in 2020 and has two sons. He has transitioned into acting in recent years, and to support his family, also worked as a taxi driver. He recently announced that he has also obtained his real estate license, officially joining the real estate profession.

Xiao Hong Ren married a photographer in 2022 and shared in 2024 that he had entered the real estate industry, having obtained his property broker qualification. He later told ETtoday that economic pressures were a factor in his decision to pursue a second career, preparing for the future.

Ying Lang Feng, known for his role as “Water Frog” in the film Cape No. 7, left the entertainment industry in 2024 to become an engineer and passed the qualification exam. The following year, he announced he was pivoting again, becoming a real estate agent. He expressed gratitude to his fans and clients, and shared that he even sang a line from “National Border South” when signing his first property sale contract, promising to continue working hard.

Lin Dao Yuan, who rose to fame on the show Super Star Avenue, married in 2015 and has two children. He transitioned to the real estate industry in 2024. He told ETtoday, “Given that the Taiwanese entertainment industry is relatively unstable, I also want to take on more challenges whereas I’m young. I don’t want to wait until I’m 40 or 50 to experience a midlife crisis. While I still have the energy and ability, I’ll quickly seek out new opportunities, and I haven’t given up on the entertainment industry.”
