Mexico’s National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca) will start renewing Banco del Bienestar cards for the Bienpesca program from March 9 to March 22, a necessary step before annual payments are distributed.

The renewal process applies to all beneficiaries who were registered in 2025, even if their current card is not expired. The move underscores the government’s effort to ensure accurate and up-to-date records for social program participants.

Specific dates, times, and locations for the renewal process will be announced soon through official Conapesca channels and on the Programas para el Bienestar website.

Conapesca will conduct the renewal with support from the Welfare Programs Delegations in all 32 states. The process will be free of charge.

To receive the recent card, individuals must present an original and a copy of their voter ID and a recent utility bill as proof of address.

Officials emphasized that the process is direct, free, and does not require intermediaries. Anyone offering to expedite delivery or payment for a fee is committing fraud. Anonymous reports can be made via the toll-free line 800-PESCADEN or WhatsApp at 669 915 6915.

Bienpesca aims to strengthen production for little-scale fishers and aquaculture farmers. The program provides an annual economic benefit of 7,500 pesos, deposited directly onto the beneficiaries’ cards, and also includes training opportunities.

The government of President Claudia Sheinbaum is promoting this program to improve conditions for fishing and aquaculture communities, fulfilling the constitutional mandate to support those engaged in these small-scale activities.
