Indonesian Anti-Corruption Agency Raids Businessman’s Home in Customs Corruption Probe

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has intensified its investigation into corruption within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, conducting searches in Semarang and seizing evidence that suggests systemic attempts to obstruct the investigation.

A primary focus of the recent operation was the residence of Heri Sutiyono, an import businessman also known as Heri ‘Black.’ Speaking to reporters at the KPK’s Red and White building in South Jakarta on May 13, 2026, agency spokesperson Budi Prasetyo clarified that Sutiyono operates a business in Semarang specializing in the facilitation of import processes.

During the raid, investigators seized a variety of documents and electronic evidence. According to Prasetyo, the electronic data indicates a suspected effort to “condition” the ongoing case—a term often implying an attempt to manipulate or influence the legal outcome. While the specific nature of this interference remains part of the active investigation, the KPK is currently extracting data from the seized devices to uncover further details.

The agency is now preparing to re-summon Sutiyono, who had previously failed to appear as a witness. Officials intend to confront him with the evidence discovered during the search and clarify his role in the Customs and Excise corruption case.

The broader probe has already yielded significant physical evidence, including the seizure of shipping containers filled with spare parts, which investigators have linked to PT Blueray. The KPK has carried out further examinations of Orlando Hamonangan.

These developments underscore the complexity of the corruption network within the Ministry of Finance’s customs division and highlight the agency’s commitment to uncovering efforts to obstruct justice.
