LHJMQ Roundup: Saguenéens Dominate, Key Wins for Halifax & Gatineau

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens continued their offensive onslaught on Sunday, routing the Victoriaville Tigres 10-0.

Chicoutimi has now scored an incredible 54 goals in their last five games, reaching double digits in three of those contests.

Emmanuel Vermette led the charge with a hat trick, while Maxim Massé had a standout performance, recording four assists. Massé now leads the LHJMQ in scoring with 94 points, adding 11 points over his last two games.

Mavrick Lachance also contributed with a four-point game, netting two goals and adding two assists, and Liam Lefebvre scored twice.

Raphaël Précourt secured his sixth shutout of the season, stopping 23 shots and tying Félix Potvin for the most shutouts in a season.

Thomas Desruisseaux, Jordan Tourigny, who also had three assists, and Émile Guité rounded out the scoring for the Saguenéens, who fired 46 shots on Anthony Catanzariti and Félix Langlois.

Newfoundland Regiment Dominates in Rouyn

The Newfoundland Regiment secured a decisive 4-1 victory over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, fueled by a two-goal performance from Dawson Sharkey.

Sharkey’s two goals bring his season total to 30. Alexis Michaud and Tyson Goguen also found the back of the net for the Regiment, while Émile Perron assisted on two goals. Samuel Beauchemin scored the lone goal for the Huskies.

Halley’s Late Goal Lifts Gatineau

A dramatic goal from Louis-Étienne Halley with just 57 seconds remaining in regulation time propelled the Gatineau Olympiques to a crucial 2-1 win over the Val-d’Or Foreurs. The win keeps the Olympiques in contention for a playoff spot.

Justin Boisselle had given Gatineau an early lead, while Alix Durocher equalized for the Foreurs in the third period.

Moncton Wildcats Overpower Saint John Sea Dogs

The Moncton Wildcats exploded for six unanswered goals to defeat the Saint John Sea Dogs 6-3. The Sea Dogs had a strong start, scoring three goals in the first ten minutes, but Moncton quickly turned the tide with a dominant second period.

Niko Tournas scored twice for the Wildcats, with Tommy Bleyl adding a goal and two assists. Kuzma Voronin, Caleb Desnoyers, and Preston Lounsbury (into an empty net) also scored. Gabe Smith and Gavin Cornforth each recorded two assists. Zachary Morin, Alexis Joseph, and Nolann Héroux replied for the Sea Dogs.

Kulebiakin’s Overtime Winner for Halifax

Oleg Kulebiakin scored his 28th goal of the season at 3:00 of overtime to give the Halifax Mooseheads a 3-2 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles. Connor MacPherson had tied the game with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, forcing the extra period. Quinn Kennedy also scored for the Mooseheads, while Lucas Romeo and Lewis Gendron tallied for the Eagles.

Ryabkin Shines for Charlottetown

Ivan Ryabkin was the hero for the Charlottetown Islanders, leading them to a 3-2 overtime win against the Québec Remparts. Ryabkin scored the overtime winner just 62 seconds into the extra frame and assisted on the Islanders’ other two goals.

He first set up Nathan Leek for his 46th goal of the season, tying the game in the second period, and then assisted on Ross Campbell’s equalizer with under four minutes left in regulation. Mavrick Rousseau-Hamel and Nathan Quinn scored for the Remparts.
