Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk has emphatically reaffirmed his commitment to the team and the city of Ottawa, addressing recent speculation regarding his future.
Tkachuk addressed the rumors directly, stating, “I’ve never said any of those things, fully committed to this team.” The forward described the need to continually address the trade speculation as “distracting,” but reiterated his dedication to the Senators organization and its fans.
The 26-year-old, selected fourth overall by Ottawa in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, expressed frustration with the circulating reports. He emphasized that the narratives suggesting a desire to play elsewhere were inaccurate, and unfounded.
“I’m frustrated by it, to be honest,” Tkachuk said. “It’s just… I’ve been fully committed to this team and to the city.”
Tkachuk’s statements come after he was absent from exit interviews following the Senators’ season. General Manager Pierre Dorion recently discussed Tkachuk’s situation, but details of that conversation were not immediately released.
The left winger has consistently been a key player for the Senators since joining the team, and his continued presence is vital as the franchise looks to build towards a competitive future. He represented the United States at the 2024 World Championship and is slated to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics alongside his brother, Matthew Tkachuk.
