On April 16, 2026, singer-songwriter David Burke, known professionally as D4vd, was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The remains of the Lake Elsinore teen were discovered on September 8, 2025, inside the front trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to Burke. Authorities had previously identified him as a person of interest after surveillance footage and digital evidence indicated contact between the two in late 2024 and early 2025.

Rivas was last seen by her family in May 2024 and had been reported missing multiple times in the months leading up to her disappearance. Investigators confirmed she was alive as recently as January 2025 through recovered digital data.

Following the discovery of her body, photographs allegedly showing Rivas and Burke together emerged online. Her mother told investigators that her daughter had referred to Burke as her boyfriend, and that the pair had matching tattoos. Rivas’s brother also recalled to local news outlets that she went missing after Burke picked her up in his vehicle.

Burke, who gained widespread recognition for his songs “Romantic Homicide” and “Here with Me,” released his album Withered in 2025 and had announced plans for a North American and European tour prior to his arrest.

The case remains under active investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, with no further details released regarding potential motives or additional evidence.
