Bank of China’s Lianyungang branch joined the national effort to promote financial security awareness on April 15, 2026, as part of the country’s 10th National Security Education Day.
The branch organized a team of core staff members to participate in a public outreach event focused on payment safety, aligning with the year’s theme: “Payment Security Is No Small Matter – Clean Finance Protects Millions of Households.”
At the event, staff set up an information booth, distributed educational materials, and engaged directly with members of the public through on-site consultations and case-based explanations.
They highlighted common risks in everyday payment scenarios, including telecom and internet fraud, fake payment links, bank card information leaks, illegal account trading, and unlawful fundraising.
Using plain language, employees broke down typical scam tactics such as “brushing orders for rebates,” impersonating customer service for fake refunds, and fraudulent investment schemes.
They urged the public not to disclose sensitive information like bank card numbers, passwords, or SMS verification codes, and to avoid clicking on unfamiliar links to protect personal payment accounts and funds.
Beyond payment safety, the team provided guidance on secure use of payment tools, personal financial information protection, anti-money laundering practices, and deposit insurance.
Special attention was given to vulnerable groups, including seniors and youth, with one-on-one instruction on downloading and using the National Anti-Fraud Center app, as well as practical demonstrations of emergency payment suspension and risk reporting procedures.
The initiative aimed to strengthen public awareness and resilience against financial threats while reinforcing the bank’s role in safeguarding community assets.
