Los Angeles — In a move that underscores the growing global influence of Korean animation, the director of Netflix’s award-winning film “K-Pop: Demon Hunters” has signed an exclusive management deal with the agency representing the film’s voice lead.

According to the agency’s announcement on April 23, 2026, Maggie Kang — the Canadian-born Korean filmmaker behind the animated hit — has entered into an exclusive contract with The Present Company, the same agency that represents actor Ahn Hyo-seop, who voiced the character Woo-jin in the film.

The Present Company, which also manages stars such as Shin Se-kyung, Kim Seol-hyun and Park So-dam, confirmed the partnership, stating that Kang’s domestic activities in South Korea will be handled by the agency, while her international endeavors will continue to be overseen by UTA in the United States.

“We are excited to collaborate with Maggie Kang, whose creativity and global sensibility promise powerful synergy,” the agency said. “As a pioneering figure who has demonstrated the global potential of K-content, she embodies the kind of visionary talent we aim to support as she develops projects rooted in Korea.”

Kang’s directorial debut, “K-Pop: Demon Hunters,” made waves across international award circuits, earning the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature at the 83rd ceremony and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in March 2026. The film’s original song “Golden” further swept top honors, winning both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song, as well as the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

The agency emphasized that the collaboration aims to foster a range of creative projects based in South Korea, leveraging Kang’s unique cross-cultural background and industry impact.

This development marks a significant step in Kang’s career expansion beyond filmmaking into broader creative production, aligning with the continued rise of Korean-led content on the world stage.
