Sheridan Boys Tennis Claims State Championship, First Since 1985

Sheridan High School’s boys tennis team secured the Wyoming State Tennis Championship today, marking only the second time in the school’s history the team has achieved this victory, with the prior win occurring in 1985.

The championship win was fueled by dominant performances in doubles play, with Matt Brown and Eric Venn taking the state title at #1 doubles, and Sam Wilcox and Christian Lamen winning at #3 doubles. Aaron Lansing and Lawson Woodrow finished as runners-up at #2 doubles, while Ben Bujans contributed a crucial third-place finish at #1 singles. This victory represents a significant accomplishment for the Sheridan program and solidifies its place among Wyoming’s top tennis schools.

On the girls’ side, Ella Bilyeu earned a third-place finish at #1 singles, and the duo of Brittney Geissler and Gracie Hogan placed fourth at #2 doubles. While the Lady Broncs faced strong competition, Cheyenne Central ultimately claimed the girls’ team championship, followed by Kelly Walsh, Thunder Basin, Jackson, and Sheridan. Officials stated the team’s success is a testament to the dedication of the players and coaching staff, and they anticipate continued growth for the program. For more information on high school athletics, visit the National Federation of State High School Associations.
