College of Charleston Men’s Soccer Draws with Elon in CAA Match
The College of Charleston men’s soccer team secured a 0-0 draw against Elon University in a Coastal Athletic Association matchup played today at Patriots Point in Charleston, South Carolina.
The hard-fought contest saw both teams battle for possession throughout the 90 minutes, with Elon holding a slight 10-8 advantage in shots. College of Charleston goalkeeper Jourdan Schumacher made two crucial saves early in the game to set the tone for the Cougars’ defense. A key scoring opportunity for Charleston arose in the 68th minute when Stian Bendvold’s shot was denied by the Elon goalkeeper.
This result is significant as the Cougars remain in contention for a spot in the CAA Tournament, needing a strong finish to secure one of the at-large bids. Currently, Charleston sits just two points behind those qualifying positions; full CAA standings are available online. The CAA Tournament determines the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The College of Charleston will continue its CAA schedule on the road next Saturday, October 25th, with a game against William & Mary, broadcast on FloCollege.
