Highway 99 to 50 Connector in Sacramento Closes for 55-Hour Repair Project
A key connector in Sacramento will be closed for 55 hours starting tonight as crews continue work on the Fix50 project, impacting weekend travel plans for commuters.
The northbound Highway 99 to eastbound Highway 50 ramp will close at 10:00 PM today, November 8, 2025, and is not scheduled to reopen until 4:00 AM on Monday. The closure is necessary for crews to improve the pavement and add a high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane, aiming to reduce congestion on this heavily traveled corridor. Caltrans recommends motorists utilize an alternate route, including taking Business 80 to reconnect with eastbound Highway 50.
The suggested detour involves taking the connector to westbound US 50, then exiting at 16th Street or 10th Street, continuing onto W Street, turning left onto 11th Street/Riverside Boulevard, and finally taking the X Street on-ramp to eastbound US 50. For more information on California road conditions, visit the California Department of Transportation website. This project is part of a larger effort to modernize Sacramento’s freeway system, a critical component of the region’s transportation infrastructure.
Officials state that the extended closure is required to safely and efficiently complete the necessary improvements. You can find more details about the Fix50 project here.
Crews will continue working throughout the weekend, and motorists should expect delays and plan accordingly.
