MS NOW Partners with AccuWeather for Comprehensive Weather Coverage
MS NOW, rebranding from MSNBC on November 15, has entered into a multi-year partnership with AccuWeather to provide its forecasts, data, and meteorologists to viewers.
The collaboration will integrate daily branded segments into programs like Morning Joe and Squawk Box, with additional coverage as needed. This move comes as MS NOW builds its newsgathering operation following its split from NBC News last month, and ahead of Versant’s full separation from NBCUniversal early next year. Accurate and timely weather reporting is increasingly vital as climate change drives more frequent and severe weather events.
To further bolster its weather and climate reporting, MS NOW has hired David Parkinson as senior weather and elections data analyst and Moses Small as a climate reporter. The network’s Times Square studios feature a virtual reality studio with an LED backdrop intended for use in weather presentations. “At such a groundbreaking moment for soon-to-be MS NOW, we are proud to continue to expand our reporting capabilities and offerings alongside AccuWeather,” said MS NOW senior vp newsgathering Scott Matthews. “Our network’s mission…is to bring our viewers the most-trusted news that they care about.”
AccuWeather CEO Steven R. Smith stated, “AccuWeather’s forecasts and warnings with proven superior accuracy…will now reach millions more people.” The partnership extends to CNBC, which will also utilize AccuWeather’s data and forecasts; you can learn more about AccuWeather’s forecasting technology on their website. Versant, the parent company of MS NOW, aims to establish itself as a major player in the news landscape.
Officials stated that the partnership will immediately enhance MS NOW’s ability to deliver critical weather information to its audience.
